VANS x SURF SESSION PRESENTS NO MAN'S LANDES

Made in Les Landes, France

Do we really all know the wealth our regions have to offer? Can the territory in which we grew up in still reveal new places? What if expatriation was only a few miles away from home?

Lee-Ann Curren and Adrien Toyon, two pro surfers from Biarritz, lately asked themselves about the very essence of a journey and the discovery of new landscapes. Having both accumulated a huge number of flights, hours of jetlag and lost luggage’s, their reflection led them to take another look at travelling with the mind set of visiting places a little closer to home.

Having spent days studying regional maps, chatting with old natives and walking over furrowed paths « Les Landes » territory, a new route in an unknown land had been drawn to touch down on. Only a few miles away from Biarritz, a typical boat would wait for them to head towards this unexplored destination. A trip for a day, fog, dense forests, dunes, and water currents … as many natural elements that any kind of surf spot around the world could provide popped up at their resting point.

The wager is paying off, beautiful nature is finally delivering the last expecting scene. They laid there alone, seeing no one, the perfect waves smashing on an immaculate beach, whilst glassy lines kept going until the impending tide moved the sandbank. As the sun went down, it was time for the two of them to head back and return to where they came from, with only hours of footage to be viewed. But as like any perfect session, wherever we are around the world, sharing is the key-term. Sharing a dinner with friends, music flowing, to live the dream again, to explore new ideas for upcoming adventures.
